Let's build a Magickal Mindset
Well, I have to change something.
I have to move into building intent again.
I have slipped and woven myself into knots about my future.
I don't like it.
I don't like sitting in funk - it does nothing for me.
Yet, as much as I would love to believe totally in spiritual miracles, at heart, I am a realist (thanks to my dad who never believed in following your dreams) and 'worry' is my middle name.
I really did feel the shift start today (must have been because I stood in the wind yesterday and fucked off the fog!).
Today I decided to go back to rethink my goals and not just abandon them and put my intent to the test. When I allow myself to fall into a head space in chaos and I go into emotional survival mode I tend to forget my years of study and learnings.
Real magickal practice can be hard work.
It requires unshakable belief.
I've never been good at faith.
I tried it once, and it didn't work.
I felt nothing and developed a guilt complex about being a sinner.
Faith and belief feels like a struggle.
I need to go back to the basics.
My focus today has been on INTENT -
Meditation or Concentration. This in practice means forming a mental image of what is desired, and forcing yourself to see that it is fulfilled, with the fierce belief and knowledge that it can and will be fulfilled, and that you will go on willing till you force it to be fulfilled. Called for short, “Intent.” —Gerald Gardner, The Gardnerian Book of Shadows
Magick is the Art and Science of causing change in conformity with Will. —Aleister Crowley, Magick in Theory and Practice
One of the most important things that you need is the ability to visualise what you want.
Detailed, precise images have to be created within your mind, because that's were everything that we have ever wanted begins.
Remember how easy it was to imagine things when you were a kid?
That's the type of visualisation I'm talking about.
Watch your children play - they are in their imaginary world fully.
You also have to develop a meditation process and set aside time to completely devote to the visualisation process day after day.
Meditation does not have to take hours, but it should be a regular practise as you lay the ground work to reach those goal that you have set.
And...let this be clear you have to create the environment that will lead you in the direction of those goals in your real life.
Keeping everything in your mind is not enough.
You have to be motivated by your intent strongly enough that you begin to live in the direction of the better life that you are focused on.
This is the basic groundwork.
But it's not as basic as just making a vision board and leaving it at that.
Witches can practice and study for years to eventually reach a state where their wills are effectively manifested.
If you and I can only persist, remain profoundly focused and centred enough that nothing pushes us from our goals, eventually you and I will be capable of simply wanting something with the power of Intent and it will come to us ( wouldn't that be awesome??) and it can be done without spells, rituals, or charms, boiling toads or collecting eyes of newts.
If you had a few goals that would make you extremely happy if you got it what would it be?
Could you even write it down?
Could you dare to truly dream it true?
Now is not the time to lose focus - we live in a time when a pandemic has rocked our world and made significant changes to what were thought was going to be our futures - now everything is questionable.
It's time to think more expansively - its time to make changes that secure our dreams and hopes and not wait for a better moment or the right time.
The right time is right now.
I'll continue this thread of thought and be back in my next post with what we need to concentrate on next.
